It was incredibly hot today, but it was not stopping my friend, Michelle, and I from being tourists. I was just trying to deal with the heat by wearing a flowy button up dress with some sandals.

Not limiting this to liners and low buns, so here are some of my recent hair and makeup favorites! LINERS Winged liner is my everything! I just do not feel like myself without it. I feel like it completely changes my faces and really opens my eyes up. I use a felt tip pen to wing my eyeliner and a pencil to line both my tight and lash line. My favorites are the Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Jet Black and Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion. There have also been two lip liners I've been obsessed with. I love a good matte lip and I think both of these are really great colors. Both of them work really well with so many nude lipsticks and glosses. MAC'S Spice and Soar I'm not very good with makeup other than eyeliner, but I've been trying out some stuff. I am obsessed with contouring and hi lighting, especially hilighting, even though I am not very good at it and still learning. I am loving Tarte's Park Ave Princess. LOW BUNS
Going to all-girls high school really developed my love for buns. A typical bun during high school was a topknot, easy and quick, but I've always loved a low bun. I feel like they are so easy and effortless, but look incredibly put together. And there are so many ways of wearing a low bun. You can do sleek slicked-back or more messy for an everyday look. Melrose, one of the coolest in West Hollywood and pretending to be cool in cool places is my speciality.
DRESS: TOPSHOP SHOES: NORDSTROM BAG: CELINÉ BAG BUG: FENDI NECKLACE: ROBERTO CAVALLI COFFEE: ALFRED LOCATION📍: MELROSE, WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA While looking through some New York Fashion Week, I happened to find some gowns by Marchesa which reminded me of my 18th birthday gown so let's take a stroll down memory lane. As a filipino, for my eighteenth birthday, it is tradition to have a debut, but I did not want to have a traditional debut so I skipped out on some of the traditions like the cotillion dance, 18 candles and 18 treasures. I wanted a more modern 18th birthday, something different. My mom and I came up with the idea of a Vanity Fair party taking inspiration from the post-Oscar party they hold every year. With that we had the theme: A Vanity Fair Event on November 21st, 2014. We wanted to do something very extravagant, just like a Vanity Fair party would be like and Nisie and the entire Enchanted Florist team did that and so much more! From flowers to lighting to planning, put all our ideas into reality and my party would not have been this cool if it wasn't for their help. Both my gowns were custom made by Oliver Tolentino. We were working on them to make sure they were just right for about a year prior to the party! I thought some of Marchesa's gowns from their Spring Ready-To-Wear 2016 at New York Fashion Week might seem a little familiar. A few ruffled ombré skirts hit the runway and here are a few that I thought had the ever so slightest bit of resemblance: [ X, X, X, X ] And of course, what's a Vanity Fair party without a swag bag to say 'Thank You for coming!' We put some of my favorite things in the bag like dry shampoo, brushes, hand sanitizers, a bottle of Evian, and of course November 2014's issue of Vanity Fair. None of this would not have happened without my parents, they did so much and I would never be able to thank them enough for everything they do for me and for everything did for this party alone! In case you were wondering what fashion week is and why it is made to be so important, I think that The New York Times explained it perfectly in this recent article [HERE]. For me, fashion week does not just showcase new styles solely based on what is going down the runways. There are so many upcoming designers trying to become known and experienced designers reinventing themselves that the possibilities are endless. Nothing through this short span of time goes unnoticed and anything can spark a trend for the upcoming season. Of course, the clothes on the runway are the main event, but there is so much more! Backstage, before the show is where some other magic happens, hair and makeup. Hair and makeup really complete a look and even if it's a low messy bun (shown below two shots from Bottega Veneta 2015) or a classic red lip (on model Frida Gustavsson), it brings a look for the show together. And with all this magic that happens, there's magic in the creation of the runway. Some are extravagant locations or set-ups (below, a runway from Kenzo in 2008) or just a simple white runway, but they all seem to have a sense of art within themselves. As breathtaking as a runway show is, it is not the only place someone can find inspiration during this hectic week. I love seeing a model post-runway show and look amazing. The 'model-off-duty' look is one of my favorites. They always have such an effortless look, even if they still have their extravagant eye makeup on off the runway. And of course, you cannot forget about celebrities! There is no way you can be poorly dressed while sitting front row at New York Fashion Week, so dressing anything besides your best is not even an option. *** I do not own any of these photos *** The weather has been at its extremes these couple of days! Today was rather strange with temperatures of 104º F and flash downpours, but my mom and I tried our best to dress appropriately. My mom wanted to wear something easy and flowy, but still keeping it classy. DRESS: CHLOÉ SHOES: PRETTY BALLERINA BAG: TOD'S NECKLACE: LANVIN BRACELET: ROBERTO CAVALLI SUNNIES: CHANEL I, on the other hand, wanted to be more casual and in all honesty, all I wanted to wear something that wouldn't make me chafe in this heat, so I went for a skort. I feel like a skort is just like the middle child between a skirt and shorts, has both qualities of each and is just as great as both.
TOP: BRANDY MELVILLE SKORT: J. CREW SHOES: PRETTY BALLERINA BAG: CELINÉ SUNNIES: DIOR A friend of mine, Melody, asked me to tell her 'my top 5 designers and why' and I thought that I should share! CHANEL: Yes, I know what you're thinking, who doesn't love Chanel? But we all have different reasons why we love Chanel. For me, I love the idea of reinventing old styles. Karl really recreates classic trends and makes them modern, but allows them to never go out of style. All their pieces are so modern, yet so timeless. Besides the clothes, I find the runway shows absolutely incredible. This one is my favorite: Spring-Summer Haute Couture 2014 VINCE & ALEXANDER WANG: I decided to group these two together because I love them for similar reasons. They are both very minimalist, but they do them in different ways. Vince is more simple minimalist, very classic. While AW takes minimalism to an edgy side the world does not get to see often. I am a huge fan of T by Alexander Wang as well. This branch of AW really showcases minimalism in a very everyday wearable line. It's easy to wear by themselves and incredible for layering. For Vince, as of right now, this is my favorite piece for Fall: LOOK 17 For Alexander Wang: OVERSIZED PULLOVER and T by Alexander Wang: CRINKLE KNIT SHORT SLEEVE TEE OSCAR DE LA RENTA: An absolute legend. I love the elegance and extravagance of the gowns. They are impeccably made and very intricate but simple. I admire the craftsmanship, I find them always so beautiful and not like any other designer. I feel like Oscar de la Renta's gowns are on a different scale compared to Elie Saab or Zuhir Murad. Do not get me wrong, all are incredibly made, but I feel like de la Renta gown's have different qualities and a unique beauty to them. Below are a few of my favorite photos of model, Karlie Kloss from 2013: VALENTINO: I absolutely love the designs and the original ideas Valentino comes up with. I love the risks they take, the recent mix of bold colors with their classic rock stud was a smash! I feel as though Valentino revived the stud with their rockstud collection, and let's be honest, where would we be right now if we didn't have a few studs in our lives? ANKLE STRAP ROCKSTUD PLEASE, DON'T FORGET TO MELODY'S BLOG [HERE] Sometimes, you have to bring out the tutu. I mean, how can you go wrong with something Carrie Bradshaw would wear?
Dress it up or dress it down, a tutu is something I feel like one should have in their closet. I know that when you think 'tutu' you think 'three-year old girl being forced to dance' but trust me, it's SO much more than that. It has an extraordinary amount of personality and this statement piece can change your entire look. With the amount of personality a tutu has, I tamed it with a black top and added a little more flare with my earrings and gold heels. AS MUCH AS I TRIED TO JUST ENJOY THE SHOW AND KEEP MY HANDS OFF MY CAMERA AND PHONE, I CAVED A COUPLE TIMES, BUT I MEAN WHO WOULDN'T CAVE? HOW COULD YOU NOT TRY AND TAKE PICTURES??? IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, PURE BLISS. NO OTHER WORDS CAN POSSIBLY EXPLAIN HOW GREAT THIS WAS AND HOW HAPPY I FELT. SUCH AN UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT. I LOVE TAYLOR, ALWAYS! After spending a little over a month in Paris, being back home never felt so good. But, nonetheless, I am missing it. To fill the void of my withdrawals, I had to wear some of my Paris pickups.

So much Monet, but I'm not complaining at all.
